Baby Quilt

My grandma is tackling yet another project for me :) I saw this adorable chevron baby quilt more than a year ago and she told me once the time came she would make it for me. Well the time is here! I love the aqua but I wanted something girlie so I went with a coral, cream and grey color scheme.

Fabric I chose:

The nursery is painted!

I say this with enthusiasm b/c I didn't have to do any of it! I got a text from Tim yesterday (Monday) the said "DONE!"  with pictures of the freshly painted nursery. How awesome, right?! If you know me you know once I start a project I like to make progress quickly, so I was beyond thrilled!

Not only did he paint the room he even managed to sand and get the first coat of green paint on the frame and side table too. (He should have those done tomorrow so I'll post pics.) He's definitely earning some major browny points this week!

Tim's Garden

Didn't know he had a green thumb? Well he does! If it weren't for him we'd have no flowers b/c they'd all be dead if it was up to be to keep them alive. So I had no doubt when he decided to start a garden he would be great at it. The plants are growing like crazy and tonight we picked and ate our first cucumber! It was so fresh and yummy. He planted cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes this year but already has plans to expand the garden next year. I can't wait! Way to go babe, so proud of you!

Curtain fabric bought!

My grandma was kind enough to agree to sew them for me, so the fabric has been purchased and it's being shipped up north!

Here is a picture of the window in the nursery. (That little table will be green soon and will set beside the glider.) The chevron is the fabric and the bottom right photo shows how the top of the curtains will be with the grommets. Can't wait to see them all together and hanging in the room!!

Nursery Planning

Now that we know it is a girl the nursery planning is in full force! I knew that I wanted to do black, white and green but my vision is coming together. However, I was afraid that finding the perfect green would be hard...

But this weekend in KC I saw a pillow that was just what I was looking for. I snapped a picture of it for reference.

I used that when narrowing our colors. We are planning to do the walls in the lighter grey and use the green for the accents. The darker (smaller) green pictured matches the pillow a little better in person, but it seems a little dark in the room so I think we are leaning toward the lighter (bigger swatch) for the green. There will be "something green" on each side or wall of the room. A few of those things are: above the changing table will be a large frame, the end table by the glider, the curtain rod holding the black and white curtains and the knobs on the dresser. Potentially the frame around the map above the crib too, but we aren't sure about that.

I've pinned a lot of things to Pinterest. Here is a screen shot of some of them, but click here to check them all out!

And for fun here is a pic of me in a similar "green" color :) 21 weeks!!

Ultrasound Pics

I was finally able to scan in the ultrasound pics vs. just taking a picture of them on my phone. Thought I would share!

Also, a funny Aidan story. Chris and Ashley told him I was having a girl and his response was, "Oh man, you've got to be kidding me!" If you couldn't tell he was hoping for a boy :) Ashley said she asked him if we would still love her and he said, "Well, yes." like it was a dumb question. He cracks me up!

Pink or Blue?

So today was the day–would we be having a little girl or a little boy? About an hour before our appointment I downed some orange juice to make sure the baby was awake and ready for some pictures! Boy was SHE ever!! This little lady is a wild child and the ultrasound tech said she felt sorry for me come my eight month mark. Ha! So it's official, we are going to have a daughter! It stumped a lot of people (and surprised me), but some got it right.

Boy team:

Girl team:
Tim (He had been confident it was a boy the whole time until about 5 minutes before the ultrasound and then he changed his pick to a girl. Good move!)
Nancy (my mom)

We are also overjoyed b/c the baby is healthy and right on track as far as size goes. Now just grow baby grow, just maybe not to 10 pounds :) Here are a few photos from our reveals throughout the day.

Knocking back the OJ. The ultrasound tech said next time I have an ultrasound NOT to drink OJ! It made it kind of hard to get any pictures or measurements b/c she was moving around so much.

Kari, Trina and John surprised us at our appointment with these adorable cookies. I had to bite into whichever side had the color that corresponded with what the baby was. Kari guessed girl and Trina guessed boy.

It's a GIRL!!!!!!!!

We had an extra cookie to we used it to tell our family at lunch too! My dad came prepared with a pink AND a blue cupcake.

At work they had these adorable cupcakes. Boy or girl? When I got there everyone was hiding waiting for me to walk in. They knew I would either have on a pink or blue shirt Gary hid me and I came around the corner. The screams erupted! Everyone was so excited!

They decorated my office with balloons too!

Then Dylan (and his wife Anna) gave me these ADORABLE girlie socks! They just found out they are due with a little girl too, exactly one week after us. Anna had a dream they were besties, so cute! Love thinking of our daughter having girlfriends of her own.

Hey there little lady!!

I'm finally excited to know

Tomorrow is the day we find out the sex of the baby. Honestly (to my surprise) I haven't been dying to know what we are having. To this point in the pregnancy I have been focused on staying pregnant with hopes of being a mom to this child. This is the next step in our journey and I know I will feel much more connected to THIS specific baby. Not just "the baby." It will be our son or our daughter. It will hopefully have a name soon :) Tim thinks we need to see him or her first, but I love the idea of his or her identity being defined and be able to call the baby by name and start that bonding process. I guess it might depend if we can agree! So up until now I have been apprehensive to take this next step, but now with it a day away I can't help but be excited. I'm anxious to know what our family will be. So tomorrow is the day. Stay tuned!!!

Here is a pic from this weekend. 20 weeks, half way there!!
