So, I'm famous now

If you count the 4 pm news on KSPR fame worthy then I am! I'm the race director for the Junior League Pitter Pat 5K/10K and One-mile Fun Run that's happening this weekend. Yesterday we (Brooke O'Reilly, the president of JL and I) were on KSPR promoting the race. Watch me here:

Yes, the hat is a bit much. I honestly had not looked in the mirror but Brooke assured me it looked good. Once they put us on camera I saw myself in the monitor and immediately regretted it. I think it looks like Marge Simpson hair! Oh well, at least we look fun and festive!

Bedtime

I came to bed late last night and Goose and Tim were having another snuggle session. He looked so darn cute I had to snap a photo. And I downloaded the Instagr.am app per Kari's recommendation so I wanted to give it a try too. It will allow you to add funky filters to your photos. Enjoy this pointless post :)
Yes, he is in between Tim's legs.

Tuesdays with Sawyer

It was a bounce vs. no bounce kinda day. Little man had an irritated belly and I know it's cruel to snap a photo while he's pissed but it was pretty comical. While bouncing there were no tears, his eyes were wide open just looking at me and looking around. The second I stopped his face crinkled up and he got beat red, I could tell I was about to get an earful!

New Flowerbed

Yes, more backyard updates! This is in the northwest corner of the backyard. Basically out the back door on the right. It, like the others, doesn't look like much yet. We planted a lilac bush, orange and red Cannas, a few hostas and some ground covering stuff with little purple flowers. We are planning to plant one pink knockout rose bush on each side too. Lowe's only had yellow so we are going to keep out eyes peeled for pink ones.

First barbeque of the season

The weather has been unseasonable warm so last night we took advantage of it and had a little BBQ with the Hamra's and Brooker's. We had burgers (turkey and beef), yummy cheesy potatoes made by Amanda and fresh guacamole. I used a Dip Creations mix by Tostido's. All you had to do was add three avocados. I added a little diced onion, salt and lime juice as well. It was very tasty and a bit spicy too! We will definitely be using it again. Amanda made this awesome Cake Batter Dip she found on Pinterest. It is cake mix, vanilla yogurt and cool whip. You serve it with animal crackers. Oh. So. Good.

Tuesdays with Sawyer

Another Tuesday snuggle session has come and gone. He was making the most funny faces it was totally cracking us up and then totally crashed. I guess I'm a pretty good snuggler :) Oh, and he was rocking the sweet onesie we got him on vacation this summer.

417 Magazine {Fashionation}

417 Magazine's annual spring fashion show and party, Fashionation, was on March 9.  I spearheaded this event. I worked with all of the retailers to get the show together, from pairing them with salons, getting the line-up of their models, communicating all of the details of the event and just making sure they were there and knew what was going on. I obviously helped with promotion and getting tickets told, writing the script runway and basically everything else that had to happen to make the event possible. Me with the help of my team :) I love planning our events, but I love getting see it all come together too. Here is a video showcasing the show.

{New Meal of the Week} Tex-Mex Beef & Rice Casserole

What You Need

1 lb. extra-lean ground beef
1 jar (14 oz.) your favorite salsa
1 can (11 oz.) corn
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 tub (10 oz. ) PHILADELPHIA Santa Fe Blend Cooking Creme
3 cups cooked long-grain white rice
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Colby & Monterrey Jack Cheeses
1 cup crushed tortilla chips
3 Tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF. BROWN meat in large nonstick skillet; drain. Return to skillet. Add salsa, corn, onions and cooking creme; mix well.
COMBINE meat mixture, rice and 1/2 cup shredded cheese in 13x9-inch baking dish. Cover shredded with cheese.
BAKE 15 min. or until heated through. Top with crushed chips and cilantro.

Things I learned
1. If you are using a recipe from a website look at the reviews. There were tons of people who had actually cooked this recipe and had some great suggestions on ow to make it better. I used salsa where they originally had tomatoes. In the original recipe they had this as a layered casserole and I just mixed it all together, per suggestions.
2. Make sure you put the onion in at the beginning of mixing all of the ingredients. Ours didn't get cooked quite long enough with left the casserole with an odd texture.

3. We will probably add more meat next time to help with the texture issue too.

Pool landscaping

Remember our Home To-do List 2012? Well we have accomplished #9. Landscape around the pool and deck. Well around the pool at least! I know it doesn't look like much yet but at every post there is either a fern, elephant ears or tall grass. Then in between there are fun colorful perennials like phlox, Stella d'Oro lilies, peonies and more. I'm hoping by summer it's a small tropical oasis. I'm sure not of the plants will be huge this summer, but even just the rock cleaned it up so much.
The lady at Lowe's told me she thought I was a bit over zealous. Me? Nah.

Kelly Clarkson Concert

Concerts make for such great girls nights! Ashley, Trina, me, Kristina and her friend Beth all made a night of it. We met at Cielito Lindo for dinner and enjoyed margs, cheese dip, dinner, bad service which then resulted in free margs and a tequila shot. We weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal, but hey, I don't mind free things :)

Matt Nathanson opened the show. He has a few hits on the radio, even though those were the only songs I knew,  he was good! I'd say I'm a fan for sure.

Between Matt and Kelly Clarkson it seemed like it took for-e-ver, 30-45 minutes at least. During that time we got lucky b/c Kristina and Beth ran into a friend of theirs and he gave us wristbands to go down on the floor. Our seats to begin with weren't bad at all, but we ended up on the floor within 10 yards of the stage! Once Kelly got onstage she made up for the wait b/c she played for quite a while and for me it was great because she played all of the songs I knew. She intermixed songs off her new album that I didn't know, but she played all of her popular stuff too, which made it really fun! That last two songs the whole crowd was jumping and my quads were burning. I was totally sore the next day. Seriously. I. am. out. of. shape.

Tuesdays with Sawyer

On Friday :) This week Tuesday just didn't work for Kari and I b/c we both had appointments so we got together on Friday night instead. Tim had his first baseball game, but it was in Marshfield and John had a friend's birthday party so Kari and I took advantage of our free Friday night. When I got over Kari was snuggling with Sawyer in the nursery then I took over :) I got to change his diaper and give him a bottle where he then fell asleep. Kari and I snuck in a bit of dinner then loaded Sawyer up and went to Andy's for some dessert. Trina was on her way to dinner close by so she popped over to for a quick chat. Kari and I started toward the line and realized how busy it was. Sawyer isn't supposed to be in public yet b/c he was born during flu season and he can't get sick. We paused for just a minuted to decide if it was okay to take him up to the window. We decided it would be okay if we just draped a blankie over the stroller so germs would get in. We sat in the back of Kari's jeep and ate our dessert then headed back b/c we thought little man might be ready for dinner soon. It was about 8:30 p.m. and he could eat as early as 8:40 p.m. When we got back to Kari's Sawyer was still sound asleep so we just kept him in his car seat. When I left at 9:40 p.m. he was still asleep! Kari text me at 10:40 p.m. and said "I just woke up, but I'm not crying." We figured he would wake up screaming and be ready to eat! What a trooper!

Trip to Andy's. Look John, no germs!

I just woke up, but I'm not crying.

It's the most wonderful time of the year

I seriously love Reese's Eggs more than any other kind of candy. The ratio of peanut butter to chocolate is superb. The best there is. And the peanut butter is always so fresh, unlike the kind you buy on a regular basis. Never had them? I would highly recommend them! I kind of forget every year how great they are. We had a package unopened on the counter for a week and once we busted them open they were gone in about two days.

My couragous cousin

She's had some serious adversity in her life, struggling with seizures since she was five and ultimately having three brain surgeries to fix the problem. She, and her family, have been so strong and persevered through some of the scariest times in their lives. They have such a great family bond. She is now being honored! Go Laura!! Watch her story here.

Tuesdays with Sawyer

While Kari is on maternity leave we are going to do weekly lunches on, you guessed it, Tuesday. John works during the day so hopefully it will be a good time to gab with my girlfriend, give her a little break sometimes and just snuggle with Sawyer. I will definitely post pics, it will be so fun to watch home grow over the next... Well, forever. Some pics from week #1. Oh yeah, and he's rocking the new onesie Tim and I got him this weekend :)

Supper with Sawyer

Sunday we went to John and Kari's for dinner and got to hang with their little man, watch Ninja Warrior Women Games (they were pretty amazing) and learn all about "preppers". You know, the people prepping for the end of the world. That's totally normal.

Another not so normal thing is the fact that Sawyer already rolled over!!! At two weeks old from his belly to his back. He's done it four times and I've seen it. He's kind of amazing and might be crawling soon. Just sayin.
