MIZZOU's 100th Homecoming, Our Second

MIZZOU Homecoming turned 100 and we were there to celebrate. This was only our second time to MU, but it marked Kari and John's 10th homecoming in a row. And Hamlet's first!

We headed up on Friday, October 14 after work. We would have made better time but we got a little turned around at the Lake of the Ozarks. Kari and John went to MU, so they have a crew of friends they like to catch up with. We have gotten to know them from our first homecoming and John and Kari's wedding in January. Friday we hit up Field House, then Tim and I cruised over to The Blue Note and watched Reckless Kelly perform. The night was pretty tame. Tim went to bed pretty quick and John, Kari and I ate Pokey Sticks, a homecoming tradition! Since we scored a parking pass from John's grandpa our alarms were set early to be at the lot when it opened at 8 a.m.

About 6:45 a.m. rolls around and we all waking up then the quote of a lifetime comes out of Tim's mouth. "Why did I wake up in the shower with the water hitting me in the face?" he said. All Kari, John and I knew was that when we went to bed he was in bed in his clothes, when we woke up he was still in bed but he had definitely changed clothes. And had wet one's in the bathroom to prove this incident really happened! We were laughing so hard, might have been the funniest moment ever. So, we still aren't sure why Tim woke up in the shower, I guess he decided he needed to sober up or something. He thought maybe I got mad at him and put him there, but I had nothing to do with his midnight bathing.

We got loaded up and head to the tailgate. We were in awe at all of the tailgating pros around us, and took notes for next year. Bring a table, don't forget forks, bring more than one liter of OJ, bring games such as washers, bag-o, 2x4' jenga, don't make a bloody Mary in such a large cup (you won't even come close to finishing it), bring hand sanitizer and your 2008 Ford truck will die if you leave the doors open (so just roll the windows down next time).

John and Kari went into the game and Tim and I headed across the stadium to another parking lot where Steffanie and Eric Francis were tailgating. We hung with them for the duration of the game. John was a little upset he didn't get his El Rancho (another homecoming tradition) but the rest of us were ready for bed at 9:30 p.m. Party animals I tell ya. We of course captured the shenanigans...
On the road
Kari and I outside of our hotel (The Regency). So sad, they are tearing it down and building a DoubleTree Hotel. It will be nice, don't get me wrong, but it just won't be the same.

Tim passed out, and us enjoying our Pokey Sticks!

Oh yeah, we made breakfast!
And drinks...
Non-alcoholic Mimosas for Kari and Hamlet

John and his MIZZOU cup Tim and I got him for his birthday

So this GIANT rig comes into the parking lot and we are just waiting to see lasers and fog come pouring out of the back

So in the mean time we take a photo, of course
And out comes this.... tiny grill. Wa-Wahhh. Such a let down.

The people on the other side of u

Why yes, we will be the first to try it out.
